Yaa Asantewaa Girls Forward grabs rebound against Kumasi Girls.

The Ashanti Regional qualifiers to the January, 2019 edition of the Sprite Ball Championship has ended at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School at Mamponteng.

In the Male Division, Opoku Ware School successfully defended its title beating rival Prempeh College 26-21 in the final game.

While matters remained same in the boys division, matters changed in the girls division despite Kumasi Girls High School retaining its regional title.

Kumasi Girls beat St. Louis Senior High School 19-12 in the final but a lot of new faces played a role in the competition with St. Louis headlining the new breed.

By placing second in the competition, St. Louis qualifies to the Sprite Ball Championship for the first time in seven years ending a long absence in Ghana’s biggest high school basketball competition.

Usual representative and former two time national champions T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior failed to qualify from the divisional zone missing out to Tepa Senior High School and Kumasi Wesley Girls High School.

Former national champions Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School placed third in a good outing for the school which has been absent on the podium in recent years.
