There is pandemonium in the Greece A1 Basketball League after the conclusion of the 2018-2019 regular season recently.

The playoffs were expected to start on Sunday, May 12 but big controversies have prevented the games from going on as planned.

Ghana Small Forward Ben Bentil was due to compete in the postseason with Peristeri GS in his first season in Greece but that such plans have been put on hold.

Giant duo Olympiakos and Panathinaikos are in court battling the league board on separate cases with the pair threatening to quit playing the league.

Panathinaikos forfeited its matchup against Kymi in the last round of the regular season to protest against the league’s decision to substitute a referee set to officiate Olympiakos’ game against Promitheas. Olympiakos won 86-59

Panathinaikos have suspended its participation in the league. A similar theme exist in the camp of bitter rival Olympiakos who threatened to move away from the league and compete in the Adriatic Basketball League in the season.

Bentil signed for Peristeri after playing in France and Spain last season. He averaged 11.5 points and 6.3 rebounds this season.
