University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team will make its debut in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II later this weekend.

The tertiary institution is due to play Division II league leaders Ghana Air Force at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu on Saturday, June 8.

Due to varied reasons including ones related to student studies, UG has not competed in this year’s competition thus far.

However, its female team has competed in a handful of games before excusing itself for the aforementioned reason. The Male team’s confirmed participation in the league was delayed hence the team’s inactivity.

Ghana’s premier tertiary institution faces a tough challenge in its first game since Air Force is yet to lose a game in four league outings.

UG also prepares for the game with Coach Dr. Baba Samori expected not to lead the team after news emerged of his departure from the role earlier this week.

UG are four times UPAC Champions and this is the team’s first major competition since clinching the 2019 edition.
