The 2019-2020 GSP Basketball League will commence on Saturday, October 12 according to reports reaching Basketballghana.com

This is according to League Secretary Michael Nketiah; the Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court has been keyed in as the league venue for the upcoming season.

The next season is the fourth campaign of the league that has emerged as one of the prominent regional based basketball leagues in Ghana.

Leagues such as the GSP represent a vibrant movement in basketball in the West African nation; other leagues include the Tema Community Basketball League.

Registration of teams for the league starts today and is due to end on September 25 with a chunk of last season’s roster expected to return for the next campaign.

10 teams competed in the league last season-a record number since the league’s inception in late 2015-and had Young Boys Basketball Club clinch the title.

The win was Young Boys maiden title despite featuring in the league for the first time last season; the team was made up for several players with league experience including former MVP winner Robert Brew.

David Ziem of Young Boys was named League MVP last season.
