The 2019-2020 Serie A Basketball League is underway following Fortitudo’s 80-72 win over Pesaro on Tuesday, September 24.

Later tonight, Ghanaian Italian Small Forward/ Shooting Guard Awudu Abass will feature for Germani Brescia as the team gets its campaign underway against Reggio Emilia.

Abass was the subject of interest from Italian clubs such as former team Olimpia Milano and foreign teams including German duo Cologne and Munich.

However, he has decided to stay put after impressing at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China with Italy. Though the Azzurri’s missed out on a place in the quarterfinals, it bagged three wins in five games to make the 2020 Olympics qualification tournament.

The 6 foot 7 inch 26 year old averaged eight points and three rebounds in 21 minutes in China and delivered an eye catching 14 point, eight rebounds display in a win against Puerto Rico.

Abass averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in first season with Brescia last season but his side placed 12th in the standings. Brescia has signed American Point Guard Angelo Warner.
