Tema Youth (white) v Warriors in a Division I matchup.

Tema Youth Basketball Club will compete in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I playoffs after confirming its place on Monday.

The team beat Reformers of Prisons 87-78 in the last regular season game for both sides at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The win confirms Tema as the fourth highest ranked team in the season and qualifies them to the postseason with the top three ranked teams in the league.

Braves of Customs, Adenta Leopards and Ghana Fire Service occupy the top three spots and had booked their spots in the playoffs prior to last night’s exciting game.

However, Adabraka CYO missed out on a playoff run as a result of Tema’s win; CYO ended the season with 24 points while Tema registered 25 points for the season.

The Emmanuel Quaye led team looked to have another easy run to the playoffs after the first round but a run of five straight losses almost cost Tema Youth a place in the postseason.

However, three wins on the bounce was enough for Tema to sneak in at the last moment. Tema plays Braves next in the playoffs while Leopards play Fire Service.
