West Africa Senior High School (WASS) has won the debut game in the first ever Accra Mayor’s Cup Basketball Tournament. WASS beat Accra High School 28-5 in the Girls Division of the competition.
The competition is taking place at the Bulom Boxing Arena in Ghana’s capital, Accra with four schools competing in the division and four schools competing in the Boys Division.
The tournament is being held in honour of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah. Rite Sports Limited is organizing the tournament in partnership with the AMA.
WASS held a 20-1 lead at half time with a dominant performance to take a strangle hold of the game. The team’s production did slip in the second half.
Irada Yunus, Ayisha Abubakar and Beyonce Konadu scored in bunches for Accra Wesley Girls as Christiana Srougbo getting a couple of points for Accra High School.
West Africa Senior High School and St. Mary’s Senior High School will battle in the follow up game for a place in the final to face WASS.
