Too little, too late is the best way to describe Braves of Customs winning effort in the just ended Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers in Group B in Cotonou, Benin.

Ghanaian side Braves pulled off a shock 56-53 win over Abidjan Basketball Club to clinch its debut win in the competition and end a three game losing streak in the process.

Three players from Customs scored in double figures with Daniel Aryee, Daniel Ayarna and Nii Kwatey Quartey all scoring 11 points in the win.

Aryee added five rebounds, three assists and two steals to his production to cap off an outstanding tournament from the veteran Forward.

Despite the win, Braves have missed out on progressing from the Group to the Elite 16 stage after recording three losses earlier in the tournament.

Abidjan Basket from Ivory Coast and AS Nigelec from Niger occupied the top two spots in the group to progress. The BAL is a joint venture between the NBA and basketball’s governing body on the continent-FIBA Africa.
