Tema Rockets secured its second straight win in the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League thanks to a hard fought 33-32 win over Francophone All Stars.
Rockets latest win took place at the Tema Community 4 Court this past weekend and was put through the mill by a determined Francophone side that lost 50-59 to Tema Community 2.
Jibril Musa and Wugobo Fred scored five points Rockets and Francophone respectively with the game tied at 7 before Kofour Osei scored two free throws to give Francophone a 9-7 lead with 1:35 remaining. Kofour tipped in a rebound off his miss to end the quarter with Francophone leading 11-7.
Junior Blay drained a three pointer for Francophone. Aninagyei Osei came off the bench to drain a layup inside the paint. Enoch Borsah and Osei scored layups in a good run for Rockets to tie the game at 13 before Kofour put Francophone back in the lead with 5:17 minutes to play.
Francophone scored fast break points to take a 20-15 lead. Enoch Borsah scored one free throw to end the quarter in a frustrating half for the big man who missed several good looks at the rim.
Borsah scored a three pointer in a 12 point run for Rockets to take a 27-20 lead. Blay and Kofour scored back to back three pointers to trail 26-27 heading to the final quarter.
Francophone scored free throws to take a 29-28 lead but Ebenezer Borsah scored a fast break layup to put Rockets a 31-30 lead with 1:26 minutes remaining. Philip Amralo’s buried free throws proved decisive in a 33-32 win.
