Ghana's Braves of Customs competed in BAL qualifiers in 2019

Braves of Customs have beaten Tema Youth to progress to the finals of the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I playoffs. Braves clinched an 87-72 win over its rival Tema Youth at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu earlier tonight.

The game was Customs first on the Ghanaian scene since returning from participating in the Basketball Africa League qualifiers in Cotonou, Benin.

Braves got off to a very good start thanks to four straight points from Guard Hashim Brimah and four points from Power Forward James Pappoe.

Tema Guard Nii Moi’s buried three pointer ensured his side ended the first quarter leading 20-14 after good work by Kwame Boamah Djan and Brian Kwami.

Youth held a slender 37-36 lead at the end of the first half but the turning point came in the second half as Braves Forward Kofi Asirifi’s shots from deep and Zakari Alhassan’s driving layups put Braves in the lead.

Customs led 66-47 at the end of the third quarter but the team withstood fine shooting from distance and a highlight Djan dunk from Tema to clinch the win. Braves will play Adenta Leopards in the finals.
