Tema Youth v Braves (yellow)

Braves of Customs Guard Patrick Gameli has issued an apology following a controversial incident that transpired at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu on Saturday, November 9.

During Braves playoff matchup against Tema Youth in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I, Gameli struck a fan twice in the face for what the veteran Guard deemed as use of overly abusive language by the fan.

The incident happened midway through the second quarter of a tough game between the two close rivals that had Braves win 87-72.

In the aftermath of the incident, Gameli has issued an apology stating, “I am very sorry for that…Let me once again apologize to the organizers and the Basketball Fraternity, am very sorry and promise such action will not happen again.”

The incident overshadowed a very good game played by both teams in the first round of the 2019 Accra League postseason. Braves have booked their place in the league finals and will compete against Adenta Leopards for the league title.

Prior to the match, defending Women’s Division Champs Ghana Police Service beat Ghana Fire Service 68-36.
