The 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games will commence on January 3 next year at the University of Ghana (UG) Basketballghana.com can confirm.

Next year’s event is the competition’s 26th edition and the first time UG will host the prestigious competition in a decade.

The last GUSA games were held at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale with the 2016 edition taking place at the University of Education (UEW) Winneba.

Work continues at some select sites at the University of Ghana in preparation for the competition headlined by UG’s main Stadium.

Over a thousand athletes are expected to compete in various sports disciplines including badminton, table tennis, tennis, football and athletics.

UG won Gold at the 2016 and 2018 editions in Male Basketball and its preparation has been highlighted by an excellent run in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II where the team topped the standings winning 14 of 16 games.

UG’s Women’s Basketball Team won silver in Tamale and competed in the 2019 ABL Women’s Division.
