Police v Fire (Red)

Ghana Fire Service has ended the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) season in third place after clinching a 59-49 win over Reformers of Prisons.

The win was recorded earlier tonight at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra in the third place game in this season’s playoffs.

By securing the impressive victory in front of a largely pro Reformers crowd, Fire has matched its Male contingent’s mark in the Men’s Division I; Fire topped Tema Youth 74-64 a day earlier at the same venue.

Nafisa Iddrissu completed a three point play to close the third quarter with Fire leading 47-35. Teammate Carlyn Adjei had earlier in the quarter converted one of two free throws to end a 6-0 run from Reformers.

Augustina Amuzu and Promise Ofori scored in a 9-4 run early in the final quarter for Reformers. Prisons trailed 44-51 with 4:27 minutes remaining in the game. Paulina Dapaah scored a layup for Fire.

Adjei scored a fast break layup off a Prisons turnover and Iddrissu added a jump shot to stretch Fire’s lead (57-44) with 2:17 remaining. Nelly Laryea scored a jump shot for Reformers as Fire ended the game with a 10 point win.
