Police (white) v Braves in 2019 ABL Women's Division matchup

Braves of Customs Forward Matilda Gordon has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division.

Gordon won the top award after another sterling campaign from the former Aggrey Memorial AME Zion Senior High School product in the just ended season. She walked away with a 200 Ghana Cedis Cash Prize.

Despite failing to prevent Ghana Police Service from winning a second league title on the bounce, Gordon played a pivotal role in Braves flawless record in the Regular Season.

Police Forward Barikisu Sadat and Gordon dominated the division with strong numbers backing their play throughout the campaign.

Barikisu ended the season with 20.23 points, 4.6 steals and 2.54 assists while Gordon led the league in blocks and rebounds; she averaged 14.38 rebounds and 1.85 blocks.

Both players were named in the All Star Five of the CAP7 Tournament.

After bagging a 31-29 win to win this year’s CAP7 Memorial Tournament, Braves beat Reformers of Prisons in the first round of the playoffs before losing twice to Police to end the season in second place.
