Scene from 2019 Sprite Ball

Basketballghana.com understands the late admission of first year students to Senior High Schools this academic year has affected regional qualifiers to determine schools set to compete in the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship.

Recently admittedly first year students reported to various second cycle schools in Ghana relatively later than previous years due to problems with the computerized placement system.

The situation has affected a host of areas including the sports calendar forcing authorities to slightly alter the calendar of activities.

Qualification games to Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball competition-Sprite Ball-usually wrapped up at the regional level and representatives were declared at the end of November.

However, the delay has forced authorities to move qualification games to December; games in the Volta Region are scheduled to be played on December 28 in the regional capital, Ho.

Western Region games are to be played on December 5, Central Region games are to be played on December 2 in Cape Coast and Greater Accra Region games are to be played on December 10.
