Accra League Winner to compete in Africa Festival Shooting Contest

Two time Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division Winner Mavis Matey has been selected to compete in the Free Throw Shooting Contest.

Ghana Police Service Point Guard Matey will represent Accra alongside Ghana Fire Service Guard Carlen Adjei and Braves of Customs Forward Gloria Gyampoh in the contest against a select side from Tema at the Africa Basketball Festival on December 24.

Matey was instrumental in Police’s back to back league wins over arch rival Braves and would be counted on to help Accra win the contest in the build up to the marquee All Star matchup between Tema and Accra.

Adjei’s Fire Service ended the 2019 campaign in third place with Gyampoh’s Braves placing second for the second season in a row.

The contest is one of several competitions athletes will compete in later this month at the Bukom Boxing Arena; other competitions include a three point shooting contest and slam dunk contest.

Representatives from Tema are yet to be announced.
