2019 Sprite Ball Bronze Medalist Shama Senior High School

Shama Senior High School (SHASS) Basketball Coach George Hanson has stated determination to participate in another Sprite Ball Championship from members of his team was the reason behind the team’s recent success.

SHASS topped the Girl’s Division in the Western Regional qualifiers played over this weekend at the St. John’s School in Sekondi.

SHASS beat Fijai Senior High School 17-3 in the final to secure qualification to the 2020 Sprite Ball as the Western Region’s representative. The competition takes place from January 3 to January 4 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com exclusively, Hanson pointed out members of the playing body were determined to go back to Accra.

“The Girls were determined to go back…the girls have done marvelously well, they lifted up their game, they listened to whatever the bench was saying and that was the secret” he said.

SHASS placed third at the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship and have set sight on performing better in the upcoming edition. St. John’s School and Sekondi College will represent the region in the Boys Division.
