Ketabusco-Opoku Ware

Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) is in a tough spot mere days after winning the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship as the school grapples with allegations of cheating including fielding an unqualified player in the competition.

KETABUSCO beat record winners of the Sprite Ball Championship Mfantsipim School 48-40 in the final to win the Boys Division. Shama Senior High School won the Girls Division.

However, KETABUSCO has been accused of fielding unqualified players during its participation in the tournament by some schools that participated in the competition and some members of the public.

Members of the school’s Physical Education unit and Headmaster have been called to a meeting with high ranking members of the Ghana Education Service next week as part of ongoing investigations into the issue.

Should KETABUSCO be found guilty of the alleged charges, the school faces a two year ban from participating in the tournament.

2014 Champions Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) and Mawuli Senior High School were banned under similar circumstances in the 2018 edition.

Both schools missed the 2019 and 2020 editions.
