UCC (red) v UG in Final

University of Ghana (UG) Women’s Basketball Team has emerged top of the division at the 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.

The Amazonia Warriors beat the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Wild Pussies 56-30 in the game that decides which team wins the gold medal at the competition.

UG’s starting unit filled veteran players took a 28-14 lead in the first half with Guard Carlen Adjei draining a three point shot to give UG a commanding 18-4 lead but back to back three pointers including one from Mavis Matey reduced the deficit to six points (18-12).

UCC turned the ball over and got punished for it with the likes of Berlinda Tawiah scoring in a strong finish for UG.

Cape Coast got points in the paint in the final quarter from Yayra Kluiboto early on but Anita Bonney scored a pair of three point shots to ice the win for UG.

UG missed out on a gold medal in the 2018 edition held in Tamale but managed to pull off a host and win a couple of years later.
