A host of basketball teams in Ghana and personalities in the West African nation have rallied for support to Power Forward Gerald Sappor who has been diagnosed with Leukemia.
Sappor plays for Nungua Coldstore in the Tema Community Basketball League and Tema Youth in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I.
However, he has not been in action since he was diagnosed with the illness to the surprise of the Ghanaian basketball fraternity.
Since the announcement was made, several supportive messages to the former University of Ghana student have poured in.
Teams in the Tema League including Tema Rockets and Spintex Knights have sent out heartfelt messages while Politician John Dumelo has come out to support Sappor.
Dumelo is set to be a Guest Speaker at a special event organized in Gerald’s honour; the event takes place at the University of Ghana Main Court at 15:00 GMT on Sunday, February 9.
The event aims at raising awareness on leukemia and raising funds to support Sappor’s treatment.
