Nigeria ranks 15th in the World and first in Africa after the latest rankings in the latest FIBA Women’s Rankings released on February 12 can confirm.

Nigeria moved three places from its previous mark to its present position on the back of qualifying to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Korea.

D’Tigress competed in the just concluded Olympic Qualification Group A Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia and managed to punch its ticket to the games alongside Serbia.

The reigning African Champions are on an upswing after bagging the 2019 AfroBasket title and making it to the quarterfinals at the 2018 Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria is the only African country that progressed to the Olympics; Mozambique on the other hand missed its opportunity after failing to progress from the qualification tournament.

However, the country was the biggest riser after moving seven spots to 36th place and ranks third on the continent. Senegal maintained its 26th position in the world and second in Africa.
