An impressive crowd was present at the event

Basketballghana.com can confirm $4,879.86 was raised at the “I Stand With Gerald” Basketball event in support of Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club Power Forward Gerald Sappor.

The event took place at the University of Ghana (UG) Main Court on Sunday, February 9 to raise funds to aid the treatment of Sappor who was diagnosed with Leukemia recently.

The program was also organized to raise awareness about the leukemia and attracted a number of big personalities including Actor/Politician John Dumelo and Actress Nikki Samonas.

A host of basketball teams in Ghana’s capital region Accra including Sapor’s Coldstore and Tema League All Stars and Accra League All Stars were present for the competition.

Fans gathered at the venue donated to the course and the amount raised is equivalent to 26, 179.90 Ghana Cedis at the one day event.

Ghana’s leading basketball portal can confirm the amount raised excludes pledges made by individuals and groups who have promised to give money towards Sappor’s treatment.

$50,000 is needed to cover his extensive medical bills.
