East Carolina University (ECU) Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Dooley has heaped praise on Ghanaian youngster Derrick Quansah after the latter signed a letter of intent to play for the Pirates in the upcoming 2020-2021 US College Basketball season.

The 7 foot Center Quansah signed for East Carolina late year and joins a growing number of Ghanaians in the American Division College Basketball Division.

Ebenezer Dowuona has signed to play for North Carolina State with the likes of Nathan Mensah and Joel Mensah lining up for San Diego State University.

Speaking to the ecupirates.com, Dooley was effusive about Quansah’s strengths and also pointed out certain areas the Cape Coast native needs to improve.

“We’re very excited about [Derrick] and his potential. He’s a young player in terms of experience, but he’s a fast-twitch guy that changes shots around the rim and can run. He’s got a very high ceiling. He’s going to have to get stronger, but he’s already changed his body quite a bit” he said.

Prior to signing with East Carolina, Quansah had scholarship offers from Old Dominion University and Western Carolina.
