Basketballghana.com can confirm a couple of competing institutions in the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship will feature in the GSP Basketball League today.

The GSP League returns today after a near three month break following the conclusion of the first round of games in December last year.

Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and Sunyani Technical University (STU) face off in the opening game at 7:00 GMT at the STU Court.

Both teams will face off in the UPAC’s Zone 4 on Friday, March 27 at the aforementioned venue alongside Kintampo Health College and University of Energy and Natural Resources. CUCG won the 2019 Zonal competition.

Two time league winners Suncity Braves play Desert Rabbits before Techiman Merchants take on defending champions Young Boys and West Siders play LIR.

32 teams are competing in this year’s UPAC in eight zones with four teams in each zone; the zonal winners will compete in Ghana’s capital, Accra for the national trophy from April 16 to 18.

The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, Decathlon and MTN.
