Takoradi Technical University (TTU) successfully defended its zonal title in the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship this past weekend.

The team clinched this year’s Zone 2 title at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Gymnasium with two wins in two games; University of Education-Winneba (UEW) failed to show up amida concerns about the Corona Virus.

However, TTU competed against and beat host UCC and University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) to win the title and progress to the national stage of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.

TTU beat UCC 33-31 in a closely contested game that had the game’s score change several times but late free throws from Desmond Amponsah sealed the win for TTU.

The Takoradi based side run out to a comfortable 49-25 win over UMaT with TTU Center Mustapha Ahmed putting on a dunk show.

TTU joins Radford University College at the national stage. However, the competition has been halted for a month as a measure against the spread of the Corona Virus.
