Yeboah in action against Illinois

Ghanaian born English Small Forward Akwasi Yeboah has been named the winner of the Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Award Basketballghana.com can confirm.

The Award was handed to the Rutgers University Co-Captain for his “leadership and gamesmanship” throughout the season according to The Daily Targum.

The 23 year old player was one of three Rutgers University players to be awarded by the Conference; Guards Ron Harper Jr. and Geo Baker were named to the All Big Ten Team.

In his first season with Rutgers after a three year run with Stony Brooks University, Yeboah fit in nicely with the team coached by Steve Pikiell.

Yeboah averaged 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 23.8 minutes while shooting a team high 35.5% from three point range prior to the end of the regular season.

Rutgers was set to play St. Mary’s University in the US Men’s College Basketball Postseason until the NCAA shut down the season due to the fast spread of Corona Virus.

Yeboah was born in Takoradi before moving to England at age nine and has represented England at the Under 20 level.
