University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team Coach Emmanuel Essel “Ghanaar” Worbil has stated coaching the Guerillas is no joke.
He made the statement in a Question and Answer session where the veteran Coach touched on several areas of his coaching and playing career.
Worbil has led UG to three Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games Gold in Men’s Basketball including the 2020 edition thanks to a win over University of Cape Coast (UCC).
“Coaching University of Ghana is not a joke” he said before going on to pick the 2010 gold medal as his biggest achievement with the team thanks after winning bronze and silver medals in the previous editions of the competition.
Despite Worbil’s impressive CV, he is yet to win Ghana’s most prestigious tertiary basketball competition, UPAC. UG are the record winners of the UPAC with four titles under different coaches.
The team is heavily tipped to have another deep run in this year’s tournament when the competition returns from a suspension. The 2020 UPAC was suspended due to the spread of the Corona Virus.
