However, those plans were scrapped as the league was suspended over fears of the corona virus spread which has infected over 50,000 people in Africa at the time of writing.

The Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB) released a statement to communicate its decision, “Petro Atletico de Luanda secure the right to represent Angola at BAL 2020-21 season”.

The decision was taken despite the Federation’s stance to not declare a winner for the 2019-2020 season in the African powerhouse.

Petro de Luanda led the league with 49 points five more points than Primeiro D’Agosto and Interclube de Luanda before the league was suspended due to the corona virus. Angola has 60 confirmed cases.
