Reformers v Braves (Green) in an ABL league game.

Accra Basketball League (ABL) Director Alex Kukula has expressed major doubt about the feasibility of an expanded playoff format for the 2020 season.

He made this assertion in an interview with Hood2Hood Basketball recently as the league waits for a ban on social gatherings to be lifted.

The ban has been in place in Ghana for over two months and a possible end has been scheduled for May 31; the ban was put in place to lower the spread of COVID 19.

Following a successful three game series in the final of the Men’s Division I and Women’s Divisions respectively, plans were made to expand the postseason format but such plans are likely to be scrapped according to the League’s Director.

“This year we even planned to have longer playoffs. Last year we only had the final being the best of three but this year we supposed to have the semifinal to be a best of three and possibly the final being the best of five that was what we planned but unfortunately this thing (COVID 19) came up and we had to stop” he said.

Police v Fire (Red)

Braves of Customs and Ghana Police Service are defending champions in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions respectively.
