The package was put together by Ghana’s National Sports Authority (NSA) and Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to grant athletes who have been affected by the virus relief financially in the upcoming months.

Athletes who meet the criteria set by the vetting team would earn 500 Ghana Cedis each month for six months in total. Up to 1000 athletes are set to benefit from the fund.

Ongoing investigations into the disbursement of funds to the basketball fraternity have revealed the vetting process has been conducted and a member of Ghana’s 3×3 Basketball Team was vetted.

The athlete, who asked to remain anonymous, was part of Ghana’s team that competed at the 2019 Africa Beach Games in Cape Verde. He is yet to get feedback in the aftermath of the vetting encounter.

The multi sport games took place in the West African nation and had Ghana give up leads in losses to miss out on progressing further in the competition.
