UCC Guard Benjamin Debrah attempts layup against UMaT

Basketballghana.com can confirm the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Finals will take place in the final week of the year.

The new dates for the finals of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition are December 29 and December 30 at the Tema Community 4 Court popularly known as the Chinese Court.

This year’s UPAC was originally planned to end in April with the University of Ghana hosting the final round of games to determine the winner.

However, the dates were changed after the competition was suspended indefinitely due to the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic.

A subsequent ban on competitions for contact sports including basketball was imposed by Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo which further delayed a return.

The upcoming tournament is to be played on a much smaller scale with eight institutions in line to compete for honours as a roller coaster year rolls to an end.
