Painting started earlier this week

Basketballghana.com can confirm extensive painting work has commenced at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court as the countdown to the start of the UPAC continues.

The special edition of the Universities Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship takes place on Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30 at the Tema Court.

A Skills Challenge event heavy on testing basketball players’ skills in fundamentals of the sport will get sandwiched between December 29 and December 30.

At the time Basketballghana.com visited the famous setting, work was being done on the court markings in the early stages of the latest facelift to the court.

This is the first time the UPAC Championship is being held outside a tertiary institution in the West African nation since its inception in 2011.

Unlike previous editions which had 32 institutions compete for the most prestigious title at the tertiary level, only eight institutions will compete in this month’s tournament in a scaled down version with COVID 19 protocols to be enforced at the venue.
