Basketballghana.com can confirm Takoradi Technical University (TTU) will open the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

TTU is due to take on Kings University College in the opening contest of the special edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition.

This is Kings University’s second appearance in the tournament which commenced earlier today at the Tema Community 4 Court.

Kings missed out on progressing to the knockout stage of the contest last year and is making a fresh bid to make it to the semifinals in the downsized edition to end the year.

TTU (black) topped Zone 2

As one of the biggest and most accomplished names in Ghanaian basketball at the tertiary level, TTU has never won the UPAC Title.

The Takoradi based institute won silver in last year’s tournament and progressed from Zone Two in the original format of UPAC this year before the corona virus pandemic struck forcing the tournament into an indefinite suspension.

Eight teams are participating in the two day tournament with MTN, CAL Bank and Decathlon as sponsors.
