Nichols

Basketballghana.com can confirm Amber Nichols has replaced Ghanaian-British former Basketball Player Pops Mensah-Bonsu as General Manager of Capital City Go-Go.

Capital City is a team that competes in the NBA’s Gatorade League (G League) which serves as a development league for young players drafted into the NBA and serves as a path into the league for veteran players or players returning from injury.

Nichols worked as Assistant General Manager of the team during Mensah-Bonsu’s two year tenure as General Manager. With her appointment, Nichols becomes the second female to be named General Manager of a G League team following Tori Miller’s appointment as General Manager of CP Skyhawks.

The Skyhawks is the affiliate team of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks while Capital City Go-Go is the affiliate of the NBA’s Washington Wizards.

Mensah-Bonsu was reported to be in line to take over the General Manager role at fellow G League side Westchester Knicks last month.

Born to Ghanaian parents in England, Mensah-Bonsu played in the NBA for Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors.
