International Basketball University (IBU) West Africa Director Richard Borsah has pointed out the recently held exhibition games to pick players to form the base of what should be the Ghana National Basketball Team for Men and Women respectively is just the first of many steps.

He said this in the aftermath of a series of games to tryout potential players to form a national select side that is scheduled to embark on a tour in Lithuania in August. The scrimmages were played out at the Adenta SSNIT Flats Court in Ghana’s Accra.

Speaking to the players after the game, the veteran player stated, “This is the first step and we are hoping that the subsequent steps would show a true reflection of what we call a national team…What we are trying to do is to re-energize the feel, the national agenda so that when people are talking about the disciplines at the national level they will mention basketball and we will also be in the mix and whatever opportunities are there at the national stage we would be able to get them so that the game can grow”.

Basketballghana.com can confirm 32 players in the Male category are in the initial pool of selected players. Players from the Western Region and Central Region were invited to participate in the exhibition games that were played before Lithuania Basketball Federation (LBU) Representative Jonas Vainauskas.
