Basketballghana.com can confirm Nigeria’s Women’s National Basketball Team (D’Tigress) is ranked 14th in the latest FIBA World Rankings released a few hours ago.

The West African country is Africa’s highest ranked nation in the ranking on the back of Nigeria’s splendid qualification to the 2022 World Cup.

Nigeria beat France and Mali after suffering a loss to China to clinch its place in Australia later this year; D’Tigress moved up a spot up the rankings from 15th place in the immediate past rankings.

The top four ranked nations in the world maintained their spots in the rankings as USA, Spain, Australia and Canada filled the respective spots and followed by Belgium in fifth place.

After suffering a shock 63-65 loss to Nigeria despite taking a 20 point lead in that game, France has slipped to sixth place in the rankings. China, Japan, Turkey and Serbia fill out the top 10 spots.

Nigeria competed at the quarterfinal stage at the last World Cup held in Spain.
