Basketballghana.com can confirm the Euroleague standings has undergone changes following the suspension of Russian clubs competing in the tournament.

The suspension came about in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine this past week and has prompted worldwide condemnation beyond the sports sector.

Three teams have been affected by the suspension and the temporal removal could be made permanent should Russia continue hostilities against its neighbour. (Click highlighted text to read press release from Euroleague)

As such, Russian clubs have been removed from the Euroleague standings thus affecting the rankings led by Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Ghana Forward Ben Bentil plays for Italy’s Olimpia Milano that ranks third in the standings with 15 wins and six losses. The standings originally had 18 teams but the suspension has reduced the number of teams to 15.

Bentil has prior experience in the Euroleague with Panathinaikos; the Greek side ranks 14th in the new look standings and is set to play Milano on Friday, March 4.
