Ghana National Fire Service Head Coach Raphael Ahadzi has stated his team will compete in the 2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Finals Series.

He made this bold statement in an interview with Basketballghana.com after his side fell 47-52 to Tema Youth in the debut game for either team in the season. The game was played at the Prisons Court in Cantonments. (Click highlighted text to read match report)

After pinning his team’s loss on the absence of enough training prior to the start of the league, Coach Ahadzi was upbeat about his team’s chances of going beyond the first round of the playoffs.

“We will go beyond the first round and we will play the top four and with God, I know we will be in the finals” he said. Fire got eliminated from last year’s playoffs by eventual league champions Reformers of Prisons.

Nine teams are competing in this year’s league and the top four ranked teams progress to the playoff stage.
