Vikings (Red) v Oil City Thunder in Western League

Vikings Basketball Academy has delivered the first loss of the 2022 Western Basketball Association (WBA) League Season to Oil City Thunder.

Thunder lost for the first time via a 33-66 result to Vikings earlier today at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Court.

Oil City now spots two wins and a loss on its record for the season same as Vikings who put up a dominant second half to win by 33 points.                                                       

Match Report

Vikings Emmanuel Awotwe buried a pair of three pointers to start proceedings. Thunder got late buckets as the first quarter ended 13-9 with Thunder trailing. 

Awotwe assisted Christopher Appiah and added a corner three pointer. Elijah Mensah assisted Reuben Ansah to score, Bajigah Jamil scored a running layup, Appiah hit a three pointer and Patrick Obeng scored to extend Vikings lead to 30-11 at half time. 

Jonathan Bassaw delivered the game’s highlight play with a fast break slam dunk; Vikings led 51-22 at the end of the third quarter and went on to win 66-33.
