UG (All Blue) v Invaders in ABL Division II matchup

DUNK Invaders didn’t offer much of a threat to University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team in a game between the teams earlier today at Prisons Court in Cantonments.

The tertiary institution run away with a 66-32 win over Invaders in the last of three games played at the venue. UG’s female team beat Ghana Fire Service 46-38 in one of the earlier games played on the day.

Match Report

UG went on a 6-0 run with Samuel Appiah, Kelvin Mensah and Nathaniel Yeboah scoring. Invaders’ Maxwell Ametepeh ended the run by scoring one of two free throws. Nigel Quaynor scored one of two free throws to get his name in the scoring category. Invaders’ Garvin Ahialey scored a point from the free throw line and Christian Sackey scores a tough layup as UG scored points by forcing turnovers and Kofi Ogyire scored the final points in the first quarter as UG led 15-4.   

Japhet Ollenu setup Gabriel Hammond inside to score with a beautiful pass. Hammond got another layup but this time off a missed shot. Invaders Ahialey scored six points in the second quarter. Quaynor made a steal and delivered a two handed dunk and Ogyire drained a corner three pointer to give UG a 35-12 first half lead. 

Barnabas Tinkorang went coast to coast to score a layup but Sackey missed his free throw and the chance to complete a three point play for Invaders. Divine Quartey came off the bench and scored a layup off a strong drive to the basket. Bless Adzormenaku and Michael Atopley scored baskets for UG to take a 52-22 third quarter lead.  UG continued to generate points off forced turnovers to close the contest with 30+ point difference.
