Defending Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Champions Reformers of Prisons remain unbeaten 11 games into the 2022 campaign.
The team’s 11th win was recorded earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments thanks to an 80-40 result put up against St. Joseph’s CYO.
After close opening exchanges that reflected in Reformers mere five point lead at the end of the first quarter, Prisons turned on the style and execution to win comfortably in the end.
James Amotoe scored none straight points to open the game including two three pointers. Rauf Zakari scored four points and Benjamin Adjetey scored a three pointer for CYO. Nana Kwame Adjei delivered a bounce pass to assist Ibrahim Barbuoso’s layup. Adjei scored two points and Raymond Abagi drained a corner three pointer. Yusha Idrissu scored for CYO to close out the first quarter; CYO trailed 12-17.
Abagi and Samuel Nyantakyi traded three pointers. Barbuoso drove hard to the basket to score a layup and added a three pointer; Prince Sampson got more points for Prisons. Adjetey assisted Jeffery Annan’s layup off a cut to the basket.
Mitchel Quarcoo and Andre Adusei scored jump shots for CYO. Mubarak Alhassan converted shots from the free throw line and Nuhu Venu scored a three pointer to give Reformers a 44-25 first half lead. Prince Adu-Gyamfi hit a corner three pointer for CYO but Barbuoso responded in kind. Adjei laid the ball in for a Reformers 61-32 third quarter.
Reformers frontcourt pair of Alhassan and Adjei dominated the boards to score off second chance opportunities. Barbuoso and Amotoe finished off CYO (who missed good looks at the rim late in the game) by burying uncontested jump shots. Nii Ayi Aryee buried a buzzer beating three pointer to give Reformers an 80-40 win.
