Argentina have made several alterations to their squad that is preparing for the South American Championship in Colombia.

Martin Leiva has been given a leave of absence by coach Sergio Hernandez following the birth of his daughter while Diego LoGrippo is carrying an injury and can’t play.

Diego Garcia and Federico Van Lacke, meanwhile, have both pulled out of the squad for personal reasons.

Those absences have opened the door for Fernando Funes, Federico Aquerre and Roman Gonzalez to enter the squad.

Gonzalez was the back-up center on Argentina’s team at the Beijing Olympics and at last year’s FIBA Americas Championship.

During their training camp, Argentina will take on Chile in four friendly games.

The South American Championship will be played in Neiva, Colombia, from July 25-31.

Those who impress could have a chance to represent Argentina at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

Argentina will play in Group B against Venezuela, Ecuador and hosts Colombia.

Most of Argentina’s veteran players will join the squad later this month to begin preparing for the FIBA World Championship in Turkey where the national team will play in Group A against Serbia, Australia, Germany, Angola and Jordan.

Argentina squad: Juan Pablo Cantero, Luis Eduardo Cequeira, Juan Manuel Fernández, Oscar Fernando Funes, Carlos Leonel Schattmann, Marcos Daniel Mata, Carlos Matías Sandes, Sebastián Ernesto Vega, Federico Matías Aguerre, Leonardo Andrés Mainoldi, Alejandro Martín Alloatti, Román Javier González and Juan Pedro Gutiérrez.
