University of Ghana (UG) and Marshalls University College’s qualification into the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarter finals from Zone G completed the list of teams set to battle for the ultimate prize in tertiary basketball.

Both teams sealed qualification Zone G after massive consecutive wins over Wisconsin University College and Central University College ensured the two institutions will feature in the last eight of the competition.

UG topped the zone following an undefeated run that included a show stopping 31-29 win over Marshalls University. Despite placing second in the zone, Marshalls qualified into the next round by virtue of having a superior goal difference than those of Zones A and F.

The two institutions officially join Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) from Zone A, University of Development Studies-Tamale from Zone B and University of Energy and Natural Resources from Zone C in the quarter finals.
