Ghana’s National Wheel Chair Basketball Federation Media Coordinator Sandy Asiedu has bemoaned the lack of support to the team which he believes prevents the team from reaching their potential. On Saturday, executives of the federation met with the Greater Accra Regional Federation to witness a training session.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Asiedu who doubles as a basketball scout and pundit, was present at the session which forms part of a regional selection process to select members for the national team, reiterated the need for the team to be supported.

“The team lacks wheelchairs, a very good indoor training facility and financial support. We need more support to enable us prepare well to compete at the highest level” he said.

He further called on corporate bodies and individuals to come to the aid of the team.

The team is preparing for the upcoming African Paralympics championship which will be held in Morocco between July 10 and July 17 before attempting to qualify for the Olympic Games due to be held in September.

Despite the acute lack of funds, the Federation will have to ensure three officials are in Morocco for the Championship else face sanctions from the world body.
