Turnovers were the major reason behind Community 2’s latest loss in the Tema Community Basketball League as the side fell 31-59 to Ashaiman Lions in Week Six. The game followed Tema New Town’s 34-31 win over Community 12; New Town revenged a 32-36 loss in the earlier fixture.

As impressive as Group B leaders Ashaiman Lions were in the game with Shooting Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw leading the offense with five made three point shots, costly turnovers proved the underpinning reason behind the side’s failure.

The loss was the side’s fifth all season and it was pretty much sealed in the first quarter after a 4-16 loss. However, erasing turnovers from their play steadied Community 2 as they side fought back to make the score 24-36 at the end of the third quarter.

With the game still up grabs, Community 2 retreated to its old ways as the side gifted Ashaiman chances to hurt them with Phillip Armalo scoring a beautiful three point shot off a beautiful pass from Pobi-Siaw.

The loss further deepens the woes of Community 2 as the side is winless thus far in the season and sits rock bottom in the standings with no points. Home side Community 4 will be the side’s next opponent.
