NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa Amadou Gallo Fall has given strong assurances Ghana would soon have a Junior NBA League operate in the country. He made the statement when contacted by renowned Ghanaian
Broadcaster Yaw Sakyi Afari during the launch of Ghanaian channel Viasat 1’s new basketball show, “Courtside”.

The Senegalese native and Administrator recently visited Tanzania to witness the finals of the East African country’s Junior NBA League before moving to Nairobi, Kenya to kick start the process of having the country’s league next year.

When asked by Afari to address the matter of Ghana having its league, Fall said:

“We have covered a lot of ground after opening the office (NBA Africa Office) in six years… We are working on it, we are very familiar with Ghana and it’s coming very very soon”. He also was delighted Viasat 1 telecast live NBA games in Ghana before going on to say, “We are going to see unprecedented growth in numbers because it brings the NBA closer to fans”.

Courtside will air on Sundays between 14:00 and 16:00 GMT; the maiden episode will air on November 13. Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong, Viasat 1 acting Chief Executive Officer Richmond Sey and a bevy of top pundits witnessed the launch.
