After selecting players at the 2016 High School and College Draft, teams will get the chance to see their picks in action at the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship set to begin in February.

The upcoming Championship will have teams from institutions all over Ghana compete for the chance to clinch the title from reigning Champions University of Ghana (UG).

However, some competing teams in the 2017 Championship selected players from the maiden edition of the Draft last year to bolster their sides.

2015 surprise package Marshalls University College selected three players including Guards Summers Salifu and Emmanuel Cudjoe Armah after impressing coaches and the team’s scouts over a three day session.

Two time winners Accra Technical University got in on the action by making several picks to enrich its side after losing the title to UG last year.

The picks were headlined by nifty Guard Taufiq Larry who impressed in Accra Basketball League Men’s Division II side CYO last season.

For Summers, the former K.S.T.S. player gets to play alongside older brother Mishael Salifu for Marshalls University as the side attempts to improve on its quarter final showing in last year’s Championship.

UG beat Accra Technical University to lift the 2016 Championship.
