Teshie Rangers will feature in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division II despite maintaining its Division I status in last year’s competition.

The side failed to complete the registration process for the upcoming season on February 24; two other teams including Reformers of Prisons also failed to register in time for the new campaign.

According to Coach Wisdom Etsorgali, failing to meet the deadline means the club has been tossed back to the lower tier when Basketballghana.com caught up with him in Tema when his competed in the Tema Community League preseason.

Rangers made its league debut in 2016 after gaining promotion from Division II alongside DC Dynamics but exited in the upper tier postseason’s first round against Braves of Customs.

The team’s failure to play in the elite division prunes the 10 team roster in 2016 down to seven for this year.

Rangers lost 22-34 to Dynamics in Group D at the Tema preseason tournament and subsequently exited the competition as DC qualified in second place. DC plays Ghana Navy in the quarterfinals on March 12.

The ABL Men’s Division tips off on March 11 at the Lebanon House Court.
