Tudu Magic have won silver at the Tema Community Basketball League preseason competition, “Campaign Tournament” after falling 26-32 to Nungua Coldstore in the final game at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court.
Despite losing to the defending league champions, the side earned massive plaudits from all gathered at the venue for their relentless fight to stay in the game and send it to overtime playing just seven players.
Magic’s Tsatsu Sakpaku and Point Guard Shadrack Quaye were named co-Most Valuable Players of the Tournament.
The Accra Basketball League side was invited to the competition and took it by the scruff of the neck by topping Group C in the preliminary round before getting past fellow Accra League sides DC Dynamics 30-21 and Ghana Navy 24-22 to make the finals.
However, a leg injury to Sakpaku hampered the already shorthanded side as it battled away against the defending Tema League Champions to fall just short of a dramatic win.
A few days prior, Magic’s female side, Tudu Galaxy beat multiple Accra League Champions Braves of Customs with six players. Ghana Navy placed third after beating Tema Community 2 36-26.
