Accra Technical University (ATU) has clinched its second win of the 2017 UPAC Basketball Championship Zone E games following a 42-25 win over Central University to setup an expected quarterfinal qualification.

Unlike its opening game win over Wisconsin University College, ATU had to work hard for points in the opening minutes of the game. The host team held a three point lead at the end of the first quarter with the score set at 8-5.

The scoring pattern followed in the same pattern in the second quarter as ATU still couldn’t shake off Central’s press with the quarter ending in a 14-11 lead for ATU.

However, matters changed drastically in the second half as Accra Technical found its scoring touch. The team in particular Point Guard Taufiq Mohammed who drained three point shots in consecutive fashion to lead his side to peel away from Central University.

ATU heads into the final round of games with an unbeaten run and is expected to extend it when it plays the winless Pentecost University College.

Central University on the other hand will be up against Wisconsin University in an interesting tie with each team on a one win, one loss record.
